Hello from a First-Time Voter 🇸🇬
The world's tallest indoor waterfall, the Rain Vortex, Jewel Changi Airport
Last week, Singaporean general election was held on Saturday, 3 May 2025, I voted for the first time in my life.
Not in Malaysia, where I’m from, but here in Singapore, where I’ve built my life for the past 11 years. The whole voting process was smooth and done within 10 minutes.
I became a Singapore citizen in 2023. Not because I stopped loving Malaysia, but because I knew I’d grow my career better here in the next 20 years.
Also, my PR was up for renewal and honestly… I was too lazy to go through that again, so I went all in. No regrets. haha.
Singapore is small but mighty, green, structured, and stable. I love how I can walk through tree-lined streets, feel safe anywhere, and know the system works.
11 years, many rooms
When I first came to Singapore in 2014, I started off sharing a room with my sister and landlord.
Then got a single room for myself, still with landlord.
Then a full unit without a landlord, where I sublet the master bedroom to cover rent.
Now, I finally have a space just right for two.
At every stage, I always felt safe and like home.
A New Seed
Last week, I shared that I'm joining a paid course and a new community. Since then, I’ve been aggressively exploring something new. The kind of idea that’s shaped by my own housing journey and love for thoughtful spaces.
It's been a busy but fruitful week.
Let’s just say I’m exploring new ways of building not just in Singapore, but for Singapore.
Inspired by the journey I’ve had with housing, safety, and meaningful living, I’m quietly exploring what it means to design physical spaces for connection and comfort.
Whether it becomes a solo venture or a partnership, I’ll share more once the pieces are clear. Nothing to announce yet, but let’s just say… something is growing. Slowly. Intentionally.
Still early, but it might just become part of the 10-stream vision I’m slowly putting together. More when the time’s right.
Until then, still rooting myself deeper in the place I now call home. 🇸🇬
Till next week,
