Abracadabra!
Lady Gaga is finally coming to Singapore this week, and YES!!! I’m going to her concert on the 21st May 2025. It felt so unreal to finally going to see her in real person!!
She’s fearless, over-the-top in the best way, and has this power to make everyone feel seen just by being 100% herself.
One of my favourite Gaga quotes:
“Don’t you ever let a soul in the world tell you that you can’t be exactly who you are.”
That energy is exactly what I’m channeling this week. My old photo of me in a white wig, a Gaga wanna be? Just to mark the occasion. hahaha
Hahaha, I have no idea what was going through my head back then!!
Now back to real life...
This week, I almost broke my calculator. Not kidding. I’ve been crunching numbers non-stop trying to make a big decision, whether to take on a franchise or build something new from scratch.
I’ve been casually searching for co-founders through the Y Combinator community for 2-3 months? Met a few talented people, each chat gave me a new lens on what’s possible for my another new venture.
Then, I was offered a franchise deal from a property community. 60/40 profit split, ready systems, looks good on paper. But after running the math (and my soul), I decided to build my own brand instead. So, I’m starting Moonbase. It’s official.
If you’re torn between franchising or going independent, here’s a quick breakdown:
Franchise:
Faster setup ✓
Brand name already exists ✓
Less creative freedom ×
Ongoing fees and rules ×
Own brand:
Full control ✓
Build something that’s truly yours ✓
Slower, riskier ×
More moving parts (and calculator buttons) ×
Either way, the real question is:
Do you want to grow inside a system or design one of your own?
I'm excited. Also super scared. But if Gaga can wear a meat dress to the VMAs, I can take one more brave step into the unknown.
Till next week,
